Welcome.
It seems as if we have met. It seems as if I know you. I know who you are because I have met you hundreds of times. Even though your face, hair, skin color, voice, and demeanor are different every time, you are the same. Feeling lost, confused, discouraged. Spending most of your time ruminating in the land of the past and regret or troubled and worried about what is to come. Allowing your self-doubt and poor self-esteem to destroy your dreams and rob you of your joy. Spiraling between panic attacks, anger outbursts, and shut downs, sometimes all in one day, or even within hours. Seeking isolation, refusing to be vulnerable, yet terrified of being all alone, abandoned.
You had some hard life lessons, you were hurt and betrayed by those closest to you. Perhaps you were swallowed by adverse life experiences and now you are wearing the lens of trauma. You see yourself as damaged goods, you see others as cruel and hostile, and you see the world as cold and dangerous. Your trauma has swallowed you and became you.

It does not have to be this way.
I am Dr. Denisa Millette and as a trauma professional and a psychotherapist, I believe that trauma is not a disorder, but an injury and that every human being can experience posttraumatic growth and live an amazing life regardless of past experiences. I believe in you because, in my twenty years of clinical practice, I have never met anyone who was unable to heal and experience posttraumatic growth. I have had the privilege to work with clients with very severe forms of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and other trauma disorders, personality disorders, and clinical syndromes that have resulted from many types of adverse life experiences, such as childhood trauma, domestic violence, neglect, abandonment, and traumatic exposures.
Such experiences have created significant obstacles to my client’s well-being across all domains of their lives, including health, relationships, work, education, and their overall sense of purpose. I have been blessed to see much healing, restoration, recovery, rise in resilience, and posttraumatic growth in my work with them. However, healing is a process and a journey. It requires consistency and persistence. It requires the choice of growing pains as opposed to the pain of where you are right now.

I would like to invite you on a very special and very personal journey of healing and recovery.
